Quick Compress Support

Get help with Quick Compress, the photo and video compression app for iPhone. Everything is compressed on your device.

When you write, please include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the App version, and what happened. A screenshot helps; please do not send the photos or videos themselves unless we ask.

System Requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the compression levels do?

Pick a level in the bar at the bottom of the screen; the estimated savings update immediately and the App remembers your choice.

Compressed copies keep the original capture date, location and other metadata, and are saved to your photo library with _qc added to the file name.

Why is my storage not freed after compressing?

Quick Compress saves a new, smaller copy and keeps your originals. To free space, tap Delete Originals (删除原件) on the results screen and confirm in the system dialog. iOS moves deleted originals to the Recently Deleted album in Photos; the space is freed only after you empty Recently Deleted, or after iOS removes them automatically.

My originals are in iCloud Photos. Can I still compress them?

Yes. An iCloud icon marks items whose original is in the cloud. When you compress them, iOS downloads the originals from iCloud first, so you need a network connection. Without one the App shows that it is waiting for the network and keeps compressing the items already on your iPhone. If a download still fails after retries, the item is marked as failed and you can retry it from the results screen.

Can I leave the App while it compresses?

Yes. Compression continues in the background, and its progress appears in the system's background task indicator. If you allow notifications, you are notified when the whole queue has finished. If iOS stops the background work before it is done, the App picks up where it left off the next time you open it.

Why are some items locked or skipped?

Slow-motion videos, ProRAW photos and burst photos are not supported; they are shown dimmed with a lock and the reason. An item is also skipped when compressing it would not make it smaller; it is not saved and is never offered for deletion.
